One of the things that make DrupalCon such a unique conference is the opportunity to contribute to the Drupal project by working face to face with some of the best developers and all around Drupal wizards in the world. No need to say that this is a fantastic learning experience. At Wunderkraut, we highly value such active participation in the community.
This is why we decided to become sponsors for both the Contributor Lounge and Contribution Sprint at DrupalCon Munich.
You may notice the subtle renaming going on here. We're talking about a contributor lounge and contributor sprint instead of the usual coder lounge and code sprint. Why? Well, we would love for DrupalCon to become focused some more on all the amazing work that goes into Drupal besides pure wrangling with the code. There's tons of terrific people doing documentation, issue farming, marketing, mentoring and more, and they deserve their infrastructure too, we think.
But now we need your help.
Being the sponsor of the contributor's lounge will allow us to put unlimited amounts of candy there - yes, candy! We'd like to hear from all contributors about your candy preferences.
And while we're at it, please also tell us what you would like the contributor lounge to provide in addition. 2am pizza? Massage chairs or a floatation tank? Jenkins monitors? Have at it and leave your comments below.
Codesprint at DrupalCon London 2011
We'd really like to do some sort of a "contributor bar" as outlined in the blog post "The mentoring sprint" on sun's blog in October. A feature within the contributor lounge, a social place for all contributors to come together, get to know each other in person and start new awesome stuff! This is still an idea and we will have to work things out with DrupalCon Inc and the venue, but we will certainly try.
We're also interested in your ideas that go beyond mere creature comforts. How to make the contributor experience at DrupalCon even more delightful? What kind of organizational tweaks would help you come together, set up and conduct code sprints, or hold ad-hoc team meetings? What can we do to make the code and contribution sprint on Friday even more productive and fun?
And what about non-coders who also contribute massively to Drupal? What could we do for documentation wizards, issue farmers, translators and Drupal marketers?
Please leave your ideas in the comments below.
Sponsorships are selling out
The other good news regarding DrupalCon Munich is that the sponsorships are rapidly selling out. Diamond, Platinum and Gold are gone already, as is the beer garden sponsorship.
The platinum sponsorship we originally wanted to book sold out in record time. So we decided to put our budget into the Contributors, the backbone of the community – into the development of Drupal!
We will work hard to provide you with the best possible experience for your week in Munich – together with DrupalCon Inc and the venue as well as all the people from the community that have committed themselves to organizing coding and contribution activities at DrupalCon Munich.
See you all in Munich from August 20th to 24th!

Contributer sustainance
Coka Cola, Mars bars and a gaming console for down time. That should keep me in there for a few hours.
Pool billiard tables
A really funky idea raised in IRC this week:
Pool tables!
It's the sort of fun sport where you don't need all of your body and energy (unlike table soccer), can still talk, discuss, and think about issues, and all that, while playing (and winning, of course). :)
And of course, tabletop soccer would be nice, too ;)
