So, Air America is having promos that advocate killing the President? Also, the offending host has done something similar in the past. There are reports that the Secret Service is going to begin investigating the promos and other comments made by the Air America host. Good for them. That is their job, to protect the President. I do have one warning though: Get ready for the hordes of Liberals who will begin shouting that President Bush is trying to silence his critics and that Air America’s freedom of speech is being walked all over.
Here is the promo:
The announcer: “A spoiled child is telling us our Social Security isn’t safe anymore, so he is going to fix it for us. Well, here’s your answer, you ungrateful whelp: [audio sound of 4 gunshots being fired.] Just try it, you little bastard. [audio of gun being cocked].”
“What is with all the killing?” Rhodes said, laughing, after the clip aired.
And here is what Ms. Rhodes has said previously:
On her May 10, 2004, Air America program, Rhodes compared Bush to Fredo Corleone, the weak son in the Godfather movies, who was, on his brother Michael’s orders, taken on a fishing trip during which he was murdered with a gunshot to the head. “They are the Corleones,” Rhodes said of the Bush family. “The Fredo of the family is the president of the United States, so why doesn’t his father take him, or his brother, one of them, take him out for a little, uh, fishing? You know, let him say some Hail Marys, he loves God so much. Yeah, take him out, you know, ‘Hail Mary, full of grace, God is with thee’ — POW!” Rhodes paused briefly before adding, “Works for me.”
You DO NOT have the freedom to make terrorist threats against the President. Period. If you are in line at the airport and you jokingly say that you have a bomb in your luggage, bad things happen. Even if you follow up your statement with a “Just kidding” comment you will most likely be hauled off to a back room, interrogated for hours on end, have your personal and professional life raked over the coals, arrested, tried and convicted. Sure you may never do time, but I can guaran-damn-t you that you will have wished with all your might that you had not made that particular “joke”
Joking about killing anyone is beyond all good taste and quite frankly may even be illegal, even it if were not directed at the President. I hope that Air America pays dearly for this and that the people behind this “joke” get convicted.
I have often joked with a friend of mine about being careful what you write in emails. Her husband is a new agent with the FBI. When he went off to school for his training, I reminded her that her emails were now being read. She did not believe me, but to be on the safe side, I closed each email with a greeting directed at the FBI agent assigned to reading my email: “No terrorists here, just law abiding, flag waving citizens.” I know that if I had sent her a link of the Air America promo and said something to the effect that I hope someone gets the son of a bitch. I am pretty sure that men in dark suits would be at my door the next day to escort me to jail. In fact, I hope that is what would happen. Our President needs to be safe. These things are taken seriously.
The other part of this has me asking the question: Has the Democratic Party become so un-hinged that they now think killing the President is a viable option? Where is the outrage from the Democratic leaders in the Senate and the House? These people (i.e. Democratic Underground followers) have so much pent up rage that they are foaming at the mouth with hatred, pure hatred towards President Bush, why? I do not even know if they can articulate a response to that question. They have been so mad for so long, that it does not matter anymore what the underlying cause was or is.
There will be some out there that will point out that Republicans were just as un-hinged under President Clinton as the Democrats are now. There may have been some nuts out there that were like that, but the difference is that these Democrats represent the mainstream of their party now. If I am wrong, then denounce the tin hat wearing moonbats.
Some will even point to Rush Limbaugh during the Clinton years and say that he stirred up violence and hatred for the President. Not so. The people who will make that claim most likely have never heard Rush. They just spout off what everyone knows must be true. The opposite is the case. Rush is always very careful not to make misleading statements that could be interpreted the wrong way. If a few nuts got the message to take out President Clinton, that is their problem and Rush was always the first to denounce them. But to have a prime time host of your show joking about killing the President? Where is the outrage? Those that don’t believe me about Rush, prove me wrong. Saying I am wrong does not prove anything other than you have an opinion, but remember opinions are like ass-holes, everyone has one. I want proof that one of his promos made light of killing anyone. I want proof that he said on air to “take him out” in reference to President Clinton.
I agree that some Republicans during the Clinton years had irrational hatred of the guy, but not once did I hear anyone even make a joke about killing him. If they did, they probably went to jail, and rightfully so. But this new batch of Democratic moonbats has sunk to a new low.
But I say all this in vain because the only denouncing you will hear will be from the ACLU and Liberal wackjobs when they denounce President Bush’s Nazi Storm Troopers who they claim are shutting down free speech in America. The sad thing will be that the MSM will go along with it and nod their heads like the trained seals they are.
UPDATE: Wizbang.com has a some additional info on this as well.

VERY VERY well written. I’ve also blogged about this item (although not nearly so well) over at Ponytailed Conservative.
